Timbre Melody
I have become rather obsessed with this piece. Particularily the opening (until about 2:00), beyond that it I loose interest as the flurry of pitches get in the way for me. I am thinking that the opening melody is played out through several times, then after 2:00 what had been long tones using breath and the space between notes for the compositional form in the begining is articulated with pitch.

new audio
Recent rain in Palo ALto has unleashed a beautiful cloud of bugs that swirl around the trees. Yesterday Scott Cazan and I spent the day in a studio improvising. Today I edited one section of that. The opening may be a bit cliche in terms of the use of reverb. I have been reading a biography of James Cook. The author is doing a great job (maybe to good?) of connecting the issues of today with the seeds in the late 18th century. The window into his life is thus far focusing on context. It is refreshing not to be confronted with hero worship.
