An interesting combination of manual/free form sculpting and a given algorithm, ie the force of a magnet. This is the kind of merging of human and process that underlies my dissertation. I am interested in the contrasting the processes rendered by computer and human as a means of articulating the formal design of a composition. I am calling it the contrast of algorithm and manual, but am not sure that is the best terminology as algorithm tends to illicit a specific thought in the reader. I think of the term in a more general sense. Maybe a better way to put it is manual and machine processes/decisions in the composition of electronic music.
